Now read in turn.

Today we’ll speak about Kazakhstan and Great Britain. You’ll speak about some interesting facts of these countries.

Here are two teams. The first team is from Kazakhstan. The second is from England. Come here and choose the cards.

1.The Introduction. Now each team should introduce themselves.

The first team: Hi! We are “Wise Owls» and I’m captain. My name is Adema. We are six in the team.

Our slogan is (all pupils):

Hold wisdom tight                                           О мудрости не позабудь,
And you will be all right                                 Выбирая в жизни путь!

The Second Team: My name is Bibigul. I’m the captain of the team «Clever head». Let me introduce my teams.

As you see our slogan says: (All together) «Live and Learn» (Век живи, век учись).

  1. The second task «Countries»

T:  I’ll give you some minutes for this kind of work. Your task is to give short information about your countries.

The captain of the team:

 

Kazakhstan is my native land. It is an independent state with population more than 15 million people. The territory of Kazakhstan is about 3 million square kilometers. The population lives mostly in towns and cities and large villages. The largest cities are Almaty, Karaganda, Taraz, Pavlodar and Astana.

The capital of Kazakhstan is Astana. This city is situated on the banks of the river Ishym. Astana is the seat of the Government, the Mazhilis. The President of Kazakhstan lives and work there.

There are several museums in Astana. The largest ones are: Museum of History and Local Lore and Seiphullin Museum. Astana is famous for its theatres. The best known is the Opera and Ballet Theatre by named Kulyash Baiseitova.

We can say that Astana is an educational center. There are many technical colleges, institutes and universities. The best known are: Euroasian University, Agrarian University, Nazarbayev University. Many young people from different regions of our country and from different countries come to Astana to get a brilliant education.

Kazakh is the official language of the country. Kazakhstan has its own anthem, coat of arms, and national flag and national traditions and holidays. The national flag of the country. Our president  is Nursultan Nazarbayev. The Day of President is on the 1st of December.

There are a few rivers and lakes in Kazakhstan. The main rivers are the Irtysh, the Ural, the Hi, the Syr-Darya. The main lakes are Balkhash, Alakol, Zaisan, Tengis. The flora and fauna of the country are different.

Kazakhstan is very rich in natural resources, such as iron ore, natural gas, coal and ail. The main industrial centers are : Karaganda, Pavlodar, Uskemen.

We are proud of Kazakhstan and hope it will have a great future.

The captain of the team:

The United Kingdom of G.B. and Northern Irelands is situated on the British Isles. Their total area is over 244,000 square kilometers.

London is the capital of Great Britain. Its population is more than 9 million people. London is situated on the river Thames.  London is an ancient city. There are four parts in London: West End, East End, the City and Westminster. The City is the oldest part of London. There are many offices, companies and banks in this part of the capital. The Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral are situated in the City.

Westminster is also important part of the capital. The Houses of Parliament, the seat of the British Government, are there. The Towers of the Houses of Parliament stand high above the city. On the highest tower there is the largest clock in the country, Big Ben. Big Ben strikes every quarter of an hour.To the west of Westminster is West End, the richest part of London. It is full of luxury hotels, super-markets, cinemas and concert-halls. In the centre of the West End the Trafalgar Square is situated with the famous statue of Lord Nelson.

To the east of Westminster is East End. Most of plants and factories are situated there.

The official London residence of the Queen is Buckingham Palace. There are many museums in London. For example, the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum. The British Museum is the biggest museum in London. The museum is famous for its library — one of the richest in the world.There are many beautiful parks in London. St James’s Park, Green Park, Hyde Park, and Kensington Gardens .

  4. What is the longest river in England? (The Severn).
  5. What is the capital of Wales? (Cardiff)

4.The fourth task “Polyglot”. Give Kazakh and Russian Equivalent of the following proverbs.
