III. Warm up: Look at the pictures and read, remember:

  2. Learn this about some\any:

 

 Countable Nouns

There are some apples.

There aren’t any apples.

Are there any apples?

Uncountable Nouns

There is some water.

There isn’t any water.

Is there any water?

 

 

  1. Some – болымды сөйлемдерде саналатын зат есіммен «бірнеше»б саналмайтын зат есіммен «біраз» деп қолданылады.

Any – болымсыз және сұраулы сөйлемдерде қолданылады.

I divide the class into two groups. The names of the groups are ‘Water’

and  “Apples”. Doing exercises: ex:5.p.88. Put some\any into the gaps.

Task 1 for “Apples”:

  1. I don’t have any money in my pocket, but I have some money in the bank.
  2. Are there any letters for me this morning?
  3. I never have any I’m not hungry in the morning.

Task 1 for “Water”:

  1. You have some lovely pictures in your house.
  2. Are you Canadian? I have some good friends there.
  3. Don’t buy any There is some bread on the bread-plate.

 

Task 2 for the groups – ex:6.p.88. Complete the sentences with some or any and a word from the box:

“Apples”:

  1. People could not sit down at the party because there weren’t any chairs.
  2. I couldn’t take any photos on holiday because I’ve lost my camera.
  3. I need to put some petrol in the car. It’s nearly empty.

 

“Water”:

  1. We couldn’t see any people on the beach because it was late autumn.
  2. I’d like to wash my hair, so I want some shampoo.
  3. I have to go to the supermarket, there is not any food in the fridge.

 

Task 3. What’s in the fridge. Ask and answer the questions about the food fridge.

Questions:

  1. Are there any apples in the fridge?
  2. Is there any milk in the fridge?
  3. Are there any bananas in it?
  4. Is there any water in it?
  5. How many bottles are there in the fridge?
  6. How many eggs are there in the fridge?
  7. Is there any milk in the fridge?

Task 4.Imagine you have been shopping for the things in the list. But you haven’t been able to buy some of them. Write about this.

“Apples”: Look at the list and write the sentences like these:

  3. I’ve got two jars of coffee instead of three.

“Water”: Look at the list and write the sentences like these:

 

  1. I have bought one blue pen instead of two red ball point pens.
  2. I’ve planned to buy a dozen large eggs, but there were only small ones.
  3. I haven’t bought three large cans of soup since there were no cans in the store.
  4. Read the information “Different customs”, What should visitors to your country know about your customs?
